The Most American Trucks

If you’re wondering what the most American trucks are, look no further than the Ford F-Series, Toyota Tacoma, or Willys Americar. They’re all excellent pickup trucks, but which ones are the best for your needs? The Kogod ranking of the most American trucks likely has many changes in store by 2022, but there’s still time to pick a favorite. Here are our favorites:

Ford F-Series

The Ford F-Series has been one of the most popular pickup trucks for more than a century. Originally designed for hauling freight, the F-series has gone through several design evolutions. They have included conventional and medium-duty models as well as chassis-cab and panel vans. In addition, they have also become luxurious four-door luxury haulers. Ford manufactures the F-Series at four different facilities in the United States.

Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger is an iconic American midsize truck that has been around for over a decade in other parts of the world. After a few years of being discontinued, the Ranger was much missed by consumers and reintroduced when the market demanded it. While it is not quite as competitive as its competitors, the Ford Ranger is still a good choice for people looking for a midsize truck with plenty of power and capability.

Toyota Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma is one of the most popular midsize pickups in the United States. It was sold from 2005 until 2015 and was a bit larger than its predecessor. The newer models were available in a regular and extended cab configuration, a two or four-door model, and several transmission options. The 4.0L V6 was relatively light on power, but it was a reliable truck with decent fuel economy ratings. It was also given the highest dependability rating by JD Power, an organization that measures reliability in three-year-old vehicles.

Willys Americar

The 1942 Willys Americar was only produced for a month before World War II ended civilian production. It had been praised as the “brother under the hood” of the popular Willys Jeep. It even had the same engine used by the U.S. Army. While it was donated to WAAAM in an original state, it has since been tuned up and restored to showroom condition. If you’re in the market for an Americar, don’t hesitate to take a look.

GMC Canyon

This compact truck is available with either an Extended Cab or a Crew Cab. The Crew Cab has more interior space, a second row that’s more comfortable than an ordinary passenger seat, and a middle seat with storage below. It also comes with a conventional rear door. The GMC Canyon is available with a V6 engine, which produces about 261 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque.

Jeep Gladiator

The Jeep Gladiator is a versatile pickup truck that shares its platform with the Jeep Wrangler. The truck comes standard with four-wheel drive, and the Gladiator is available with four different systems: the Command-Trac part-time 4WD system, the Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system, and the optional Rock-Trac system. The standard 4WD system divides power 50:50 between the front and rear axles. The Rock-Trac system is available on the Rubicon in both a full-time and part-time version.

Willys Americar SS 454 LS6

The Willys Americar was a series of automobiles produced by Willys-Overland Motors between 1937 and 1942. This popular model was offered in a variety of body styles, including coupes, sedans, station wagons, and pickup trucks. The coupe is a popular hot rod choice. You can buy a donor car or a fiberglass model to create your own classic ride.

El Camino

The Chevrolet El Camino is an American pickup truck that was designed to haul cargo and carry more weight than passenger cars. It was introduced along with thirteen other truck models in 1958, and it quickly became a favorite with consumers. It was built on an Impala and Chevelle body, with cat-eye taillights and a low, long hood. Some ads claimed that it rode like a convertible. Despite this, it is not a true muscle car, but it has become a staple of American culture.
