Fun Facts About the Wild Minnesota Ice Hockey Team

The Wild Minnesota ice hockey team is a professional ice hockey team based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Wild play in the Central Division of the National Hockey League, part of the Western Conference. They play their home games at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. If you want to learn more about the Wild, read on. Here are some fun facts about the team:

Kevin Fiala

The professional ice hockey player Kevin Fiala hails from the small country of Switzerland. He currently plays for the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League. He was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, but has been a prominent hockey player in Minnesota for the past several years. Fiala has been recognized as the best defenseman in the NHL since his rookie season. His game is well suited to Minnesota’s cold climate and can be described as physical.

Marc-Andre Fleury

Marc-Andre Fleury is a professional ice hockey goaltender from Canada. He plays for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League. This season, Fleury was named the NHL’s most valuable player. His outstanding play is recognized around the world, including the World Cup of Hockey. A strong performance by Fleury will boost the Wild’s playoff hopes. Here, we will explore Fleury’s career highlights.

Eric Staal

Eric Staal is an unrestricted free agent. Previously, he has played for the Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, and New York Rangers, among others. He has also suited up for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabers, and Montreal Canadiens. The Wild were in search of a centre who could help them win a Stanley Cup. Wild GM Ron Hextall has said he wants Staal’s experience and expertise, but they will need to find a way to keep him in the lineup.

Kirill Kaprizov

Kirill Kaprizov is a Russian professional ice hockey left winger who is currently playing for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League. Previously, he played for Metallurg Novokuznetsk, Salavat Yulaev Ufa, and CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League. His goal scoring totals this season are a career high, with a total of 19 goals and 58 points.

Eric Staal’s contract

Eric Staal’s contract with the Minneapolis Wild is worth watching. The veteran center was thought to be a trade candidate last summer, but he made it clear that he wanted to remain in Minnesota. Perhaps Staal’s statements scared off potential trade suitors. Still, Staal’s decision to stay put has benefited the Wild. Staal has a reasonable cap number for a player of his age and experience, and his new deal will fit into the team’s overall salary structure.

Jason Pominville

As a veteran player, Jason Pominville has made his mark on the Wild this season. Though not a goal scorer, Pominville is a major contributor to the Wild’s postseason run. The Wild should embrace his streakiness, which translates to results. He’s a smart skater who translates his strong hustle into goals for his line mates. The Wild’s move to trade Pominville, however, makes them look even worse than they are.

Xcel Energy Center

The Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, is a multipurpose arena that opened in 2000. Named for a local corporate sponsor, Xcel Energy, the Xcel Energy Center features four spectator levels, one suite level, and three general seating areas. The arena seats 17,954 people and is home to the Minnesota Wild hockey team. In addition to hockey and basketball, the Xcel Energy Center hosts concerts, sporting events, and other events.

Project Tweak

After years of rebuilding and tweaking their team, the Wild have finally made a playoff run. But, there’s a catch: the process may not be what it seems. Owner Craig Leipold has already fired general manager Chuck Fletcher, who had a mixed track record. Project Tweak, as it’s been called, is not a wholesale rebuild. Rather, it’s about tweaking and improving what’s there.

Bruce Boudreau

As a coach, you want to see results, and when you don’t, it’s best to let things take their course. That’s how Bruce Boudreau has operated the Minnesota Wild for three seasons. But the results have been mixed. The Wild are currently 27-23-7, only three points out of the final playoff spot. But Guerin has warned the Wild that more trades are expected before the Feb. 24 NHL trade deadline.
