The digital microscope is one of the latest and greatest inventions in the world of technology. This microscope has taken the world by storm, and for good reason! With its high-resolution camera and ability to take pictures or videos of what you are viewing, it is a great tool for educators, students, and anyone who wants to view objects up close. Whether you are looking at a bug or a piece of jewelry, the digital microscope will give you a closer look than ever before!
Here are the steps on how to use a digital microscope:
STEP 1. Make sure your microscope is plugged into your computer with the proper cable, then turn it on. Because each digital microscope has different connection types, refer to your manual if you need help finding out where to plug in what cord. Most microscopes will also come with their very own software that you have to install before using the microscope.
STEP 2. Turn on your computer if it is not already on, then turn it on and wait for it to boot up completely.
STEP 3. Once your computer has loaded all of its programs, find the folder where you installed the microscope’s software and open it. Double-click the file inside that folder labeled “Digital Microscope.”
STEP 4. When you open the microscope software, the program will ask if you would like to connect your microscope or not. If it does not pop up automatically, click on “Connect Device” in the menu bar at the top of the screen. A window will then appear. If your microscope is connected properly, you will see a box with a green checkmark in it and “Connected” written below. If the microscope is not connected or it is turned off, then you will either see an “X” through the box or you will get a pop-up message that says your microscope is not connected.
STEP 5. Once your microscope has successfully been hooked up to your computer, click on “OK” in the window where it asks if you would like to connect the microscope.
STEP 6. The program will then ask for what kind of microscope you are using and depending on your preference, you can either put “Digital Microscope” or “Digital Video Microscope.” This is very important because if you put down the wrong option, it may not work properly. If you happen to not know what kind of microscope you have, then look on the side or back of it to see what type you have.
STEP 7. When your microscope is connected to your computer and the proper option has been selected as described in step 6, click on “OK” again. The next pop-up window that comes up will be a display window. Depending on what type of microscope you have, it will either be a camera monitor or a live video feed from the microscope. If it is a camera monitor, then you will see your computer screen as if you were using your monitor as a camera. If it is the live video feed, then you will just see whatever the microscope is seeing.
STEP 8. The next step is to click on “View” in the menu bar at the top of your screen and select whether you would like to view slides or specimens, which are basically just objects that are placed underneath your microscope for viewing. Some microscopes may come with preloaded slides, so make sure you are selecting the right option for your microscope.
STEP 9. Now you are finally ready to start taking pictures or videos! If you would like to take photographs, then you must click on the camera button in the menu bar at the top of your screen. This will open up a new window where you can change how many cells (or megapixels) you want for your picture. If you would like to take a video, then you must click on the video button in your menu bar which will open up a new window that allows you to record videos.
STEP 10. When you are done recording images or videos, simply close out of all of your windows and disconnect your microscope from your computer by following the steps in reverse: Step 4, Step 5, and finally clicking on “Eject Microscope” at the bottom of your screen.
After following these steps in order, you will know how to use a digital microscope by yourself. However, if you do not understand something or if you would like more information on the subject, please feel free to leave a comment below. Thank you for reading!
